Jodi Arias is a convicted murderer who became well-known in 2008 after murdering her ex-boyfriend Travis Alexander. She was born Jodi Ann Arias on July 9th, 1980, in Salinas, California to William Angelo and Sandy Arias. She has said that her childhood was abusive from the time she was seven years old, with claims that she was beaten by her parents with a belt and with wooden spoons. She dropped out of high school in grade 11 but later earned her GED. She had a passion for photography and worked as a professional photographer and later a server at a restaurant. She met Travis in 2006 and they were involved off and on until his murder in 2008.

Travis Alexander was a motivational speaker and salesman for Prepaid Legal Services when he met Jodi Arias in 2006. Jodi also worked for the same company at the time.
Travis and Jodi became involved and Jodi decided to be baptized as a Mormon, the same church that Travis belonged to.
In 2007 Jodi and Travis ended their relationship but continued to see each other periodically. Jodi later said Travis had been abusive to her during that time.
Travis accused Jodi of stalking him by sending threatening messages. However they continued to see each other occasionally.
On June 4th, 2008, Travis Alexander was murdered.
Travis missed an important meeting and failed to show up for a vacation and his friends discovered his body on June 9th.
Travis Alexander was shot and stabbed as many as 29 times. The detectives found reason to pursue Jodi as a suspect.
Jodi Arias provided conflicting stories about the day of the murder and said that two intruders committed the murder.
Jodi changed her story three times - the third time during the trial.
At trial Jodi Arias was found guilty of first-degree murder in 2013. The sentencing was a deadlock. The jurors could not agree so a penalty trial was held in October 2014.
The death penalty was taken off the table when a second jury on 2015 could not agree on sentencing.
Jodi Arias was sentenced on April 13th, 2015 to a life sentence without chance of parole after 25 years.
Jodi Arias resides at the Arizona Department of Corrections at the Arizona State Prison Complex - Perryville.
Jodi Arias admitted to the murder two years after she was arrested. She claimed that it was self defense because Travis was abusive to her. She tried to claim that she had dropped a camera and Travis had become violent so she killed him to save herself.
Jodi Arias has sold artwork on eBay through her brother since January 2013. The family claims it is to raise money for better food for her in jail and to help pay for travel expenses to the trial for her family.
Jodi Arias was ordered to pay over $32,000 to Travis' siblings. This amount was only one-third of what had been requested.
The trial of Jodi Arias was a media sensation in the news and on social media.
