Ted Bundy was an American serial killer who confessed to 36 homicides in seven states in the 1970s, although many believe he committed even more. He was born Theordore Robert Cowell on November 24th, 1946, in Burlington, Vermont, to Eleanor Louise Cowell, and a father that has never been specifically identified. His mother was unwed and Ted was taunted as a bastard as a child and for a time he believed his mother was his older sister. It is believed that Ted Bundy began killing women in 1974, in Seattle and Oregon. He lured women by asking for help at his car. When he moved to Utah for law school more women went missing. In 1975 Ted was arrested for kidnapping a woman and was given a 1-15 year sentence. He escaped and committed additional murders in Florida and was recaptured. Ted Bundy was executed on January 24th, 1989.

Some people believe that Ted Bundy actually started murdering people when he was a teenager. By some accounts the number of people Ted Bundy may have murdered could be well over 100.
Some believe Ted Bundy murdered an 8 year old girl in Tacoma in 1961 but he denied this. He would have been 14 years old at the time.
The first documented murders took place in 1974. Ted Bundy was 27 at the time.
Ted Bundy admitted to mastering the skills to hide his crimes perfectly. This was prior to DNA technology being available.
Young women often found Ted Bundy to be handsome and he used his charismatic charm to lure them and win their trust.
In order to lure his victims Ted Bundy often faked an injury or impersonated someone well known. When the young women approached his vehicle he kidnapped them and took them to a more secluded second location.
Ted Bundy is known to have decapitated at least 12 victims and kept their heads in his apartment for a while.
Ted Bundy was arrested in 1975 for aggravated kidnapping and attempted criminal assault. This led to becoming a suspect in several murders.
Ted Bundy managed to escape prison and commit additional murders but he was recaptured in 1978.
Ted Bundy was found guilty of three murders in Florida and sentenced to death.
He was executed on January 24th, 1989. There was no public ceremony held for him and he was cremated.
