Burmese cat is a type of short-haired domestic cat that originates from Southeast Asia. It has been introduced to Britain and USA at the beginning of the 20th century where modern variety of this breed has been created via crossbreeding with Siamese cat (there are two, slightly different Burmese breed standards today: European and American). Burmese cat is mostly kept as a pet, but thanks to its good temperament and beautiful appearance it is also very popular as a show cat.
