Chiropractic Facts
A chiropractor is a professional that performs a type of alternative medicine called chiropractic in which the practitioner diagnoses and uses manual therapy to treat disorders of the musculoskeletal system, most specifically the spine. The inventor of chiropractic was Daniel David Palmer, who was arrested and spent time in jail in 1907 for practicing a form of medicine without a license. Chiropractic was first proposed as a form of medicine in 1895 in Iowa, in the United States, however spinal manipulation for therapeutic purposes has existed for more than 2,500 years. China in particular has been using spinal manipulation long before it was founded as a profession in 1895 in the United States.
