The addition property means that adding the same number to both sides of an equation will produce an equivalent equation. Example: x - 3 = 5 x - 3 + 3 = 5 + 3 (Add 3 to both sides) x = 5 + 3 (3 on the left side cancels out) x = 8 The subtraction property means that subtracting the same number from both sides of an equation will produce an equivalent equation. x + 3 = 5 x + 3 - 3 = 5 - 3 (Subtract 3 from both sides) x = 5 - 3 (3 on the left cancels out) x = 2 For each of the following questions, solve for X. You will need a calculator and scratch paper. Select the best answer from the choices.
