Linear Equations : Solving Linear Equations by Addition or Subtraction Quiz

 Quiz
 *Theme/Title:  Solving Linear Equations by Addition or Subtraction
 * Description/Instructions
When solving equations for a particular variable, use the addition or subtraction property of equality. The addition property means that adding the same number to both sides of an equation will produce an equivalent equation.

Example:
x - 3 = 5
x - 3 + 3 = 5 + 3 (Add 3 to both sides)
x = 5 + 3 (3 on the left side cancels out)
x = 8

The subtraction property means that subtracting the same number from both sides of an equation will produce an equivalent equation.
x + 3 = 5
x + 3 - 3 = 5 - 3 (Subtract 3 from both sides)
x = 5 - 3 (3 on the left cancels out)
x = 2

For each of the following questions, solve for X. You will need a calculator and scratch paper. Select the best answer from the choices.
