Blizzard Beach Facts

Blizzard Beach Facts
Blizzard Beach is a Walt Disney World water park located at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. It opened in 1995 as Disney's third water theme park. Blizzard Beach was built atop Mount Gushmore, a 90 foot tall artificial hill. Even with annual closures in either the fall or winter Blizzard Beach had roughly 2,901,000 guests in 2016 alone. The park is divided by colors to help visitors navigate easier, including green, purple and red slopes. The theme of Blizzard Beach is that it is a melting ski resort, with a legend that a freak snowstorm resulted in the first ski hill in Florida, but as it began to melt a blue alligator named Ice Gator went down the hill on an innertube and the park was born.
