Rehoboth Beach is located along the Atlantic Coast in Delaware's beach region of eastern Sussex County. It is one of the cities of Cape Region in Delaware that is experiencing rapid growth. The population in the summer months climbs to over 25,000 but during the off season it drops to roughly 1,488 full time residents. Rehoboth Beach encompasses an area of 1.64 square miles of which 0.47 is water. It was founded as the Rehoboth Beach Camp Meeting Association in 1873 by a reverend. In 1891 it was incorporated as Cape Henlopen City. In 1893 it was changed to Rehoboth Beach. Rehoboth is a Hebrew word meaning 'broad spaces'.
