Anna Kendrick is an American actress who became famous for roles in films such as Twilight, Up in the Air, and Pitch Perfect. She was born Anna Cooke Kendrick on August 9, 1985, in Portland, Maine, to Janice Cooke and William Kendrick. Her mother is an accountant and her father is a history teacher. Anna grew up in Portland and attended Deering High School but was already auditioning for theater roles when she was a child. She was nominated for a Tony Award in 1998 for her role in the Broadway musical High Society. Her first on screen appearance was in the 2003 film Camp.
