Idris Elba is an English musician and actor also known as DJ Big Driis, 7 Dub, Big Driis, and Big Driis the Londoner. He was born Idrissa Akuna Elba on September 6th, 1972, in Hackney, London, England, to Eve and Winston who married in Sierra Leone and moved to London. Idris was raised in Hackney and East Ham and began acting while attending school in Canning Town. He received the Prince's Trust grant in 1988 winning a place in the National Youth Music Theatre. He worked as a DJ and other jobs while beginning his acting career. His first major role was in the series Bramwell.
