Harrison Bergeron - the titular character and possibly the protagonist, aged fourteen, he is taken to jail and covered with handicaps, but he escapes, comes on television, dances and then is shot and killed

Hazel Bergeron - Harrison's mom who watches him get shot on television but forgets what she saw before she is able to tell her husband

George Bergeron - Harrison's father who has to wear bags of birdshot and a radio in his ear to take down his intelligence and strength, he is in the kitchen when his son is shot on television

Diana Moon Glampers - the Handicapper General who decides what noises sound in people's headphones, shoots Harrison and the girl dancing with him with a shotgun
