Linear Equations: Identifying Slopes & Intercepts Quiz
Quiz Overview
Description
The slope-intercept form an equation is y = mx + b. "m" is the slope of the line. Slope is rise over run. The rise is the difference between two points on the y-axis. The run is the difference between two points on the x-axis. "b" is the intercept, or the point where the graph crosses the y-axis.
Example: y = 2x + 4. m is 2 and y is 4.
2y = 4x + 6
Divide both sides by 2 because y must be
by itself.
y = 2x + 3
m = 2 and y = 3
For each of the following questions, determine the slope and intercept. Select the best answer from the choices.
