The 15th and 16th centuries saw an extreme transformation in terms of religious teachings and practices by means of the Reformation and Counter-Reformation, all of which caused turmoil and tension through out Christendom. Some of the major figures of this transition include Martin Luther, John Calvin, King Henry VIII, and Pope Leo X all of whom left their individual marks on European and world history.
