Chapter 23: The Transformation of Europe: The European Enlightenment Quiz

The European Enlightenment, also known as the Age of Enlightenment, which took place during the 18^th century transformed the cultural landscape of Europe, and for the first time allowed a new way of thinking completely focused on rationality and science. Many figures that participated in this movement found themselves at odds with religious doctrine and the authority of the Catholic Church; however, others saw this tension as a means of creating a bridge between scientific revolution and theology. The Enlightenment also found influence in the American and French Revolution and increasingly altered the daily lives of those living in Europe and the Americas.
