SAT: Special triangles Quiz
Quiz Overview
Description
Triangles, especially right triangles, are important to many key concepts that are tested on the SAT. Knowing the Pythagorean Theorem ( a2 + b2 = c2 , where c is the hypotenuse) is crucial, but it's also a good idea to memorize certain right triangles that occur frequently on the exam. In particular, you should be familiar with:
- The right triangle that has sides in the ratio of 3 : 4 : 5
- The isosceles right triangle, which has angles 45, 45, and 90 degrees and whose sides are in the ratio 1 : 1 :
- The right triangle with angles 30, 60, and 90 degrees, and whose sides are in the ratio 1 : : 2 .
In addition, you should look out for any isosceles triangle as well as the equilateral triangle, which has all 60-degree angles.
