The words 'sense' and 'cense' sound the same, but have dissimilar meanings. 'Sense' can be used as a noun or a verb, with different shades of meaning, including (as a noun) one of the five senses (sight, hearing, taste, smell, touch), or (as a verb) to perceive something with one of the senses, or in a way outside of normal sensory perception. 'Sense' can also mean to detect something by scientific or electronic means. To 'cense' is to burn incense, particularly if directed at something.
