Linear Equations: Standard Form of Linear Equations Quiz
Quiz Overview
Description
The standard form of a linear equation is written in the form Ax + By = C. A, B, & C are all real numbers. Any equation can be transformed into this form by adding or subtracting like terms on both sides of the equation.
Example:
Equation: 9 + 9x = 11y
Subtract 9 from both sides: 9 – 9 + 9x = 11y – 9
Subtract 11y from both sides: 9x – 11y = 11y – 11y – 9
Standard form: 9x – 11y = -9
For each question, determine if the problem is already in standard notation. If the problem is in standard form, mark "Do Not Change." If it is not in standard form, select the appropriate answer choice.
